Kawaikini a bargain for Coyle

Monday, 27 February 2017 - Jason Coyle secured a bargain when he spent $6,000 on an All American filly at the 2015 Inglis Classic Autumn Sale.

Given the name Kawaikini (pictured as a yearling before the 2015 Inglis Classic Sale) and then given time to mature, she won a Nowra maiden on debut in October and graduated to a Class 2 victory first-up at the same course on Sunday.

Kawaikini (3f All American - Sky Girl by Nuclear Freeze) is from a sister to G3 Hawkesbury Cup winner Nuclear Sky and Kathy O'Hara was on board for both wins. “That makes it 2 from 2,” Coyle said. “Hopefully, she’s on her way to bigger and better things.”

Coyle bought another All American at this year’s Classic Sale on February 13 when paying $40,000 for the filly out of Lou's Princess (Commands). She is a younger sister All American winner Maya Maya.

Meanwhile, All American’s first stakes winner Bachman has died while out spelling. "He was such a quiet horse and was everyone's favourite,” trainer Gerald Ryan said. "He was taken to hospital and they did all the tests which showed he had been bitten by a black snake.”

Bachman won the G3 Schweppervescence at Rosehill and Listed Goldmarket Hcp on the Gold Coast for prizemoney exceeding $430,000.
