All Americans winning on Home Front

Friday, 7 April 2023 | All American continues to hold the fort at Geisel Park while the news cycle has been centred on the arrival of new stallion Aysar and its second-season sire Manhattan Rain.

His recent 3yo provincial winners Mack Mack and Work Home Front are both on track to make the grade this season.  All American sired them from Danehill-line mares and that cross has supplied half of his 16 Stakes performers.

Mack Mack won the Margaret River Fresh Hcp (1400m) at Pinjarra and followed up with a half-length second to Catch These Hands at Ascot on April 1.  He’s raced by Loloma Farms owner Kevin Fowler and had been runner-up to Amelia’s Jewel in a Lark Hill trial last season.

Dion Luciani trains him for Fowler and sent him to Kalgoorlie where he toughened up and won two in a row at the tail-end of the Goldfields season in October.

He found trouble on the fence during his first two starts this prep so Pat Carberry took luck out of the equation at Pinjarra with a barrier-to-box victory over Peters Investments homebred Noteworthy (Charm Spirit).

“The owner might have been a mocker,” joked stable rep Ian Glading.  “Kev was at Ascot for both those runs but isn’t here today.

“Mack Mack was comfortable rolling along and dictating in the lead.  He was nominated for the (G2) WA Derby but will probably be at his best from 1400m to 1800m.”

Geisel Park bred Mack Mack using All American over Miss Chloetamash who won three races over 1200m at Bunbury for trainer Michael Lane.  Her most recent cover was to Roselee Park’s Galileo stallion Spiritjim (Fr).

Work Home Front was under siege first-up for trainer Donna Riordan before winning her maiden at Mt Barker.  The All American filly hadn’t been seen since an unplaced debut during the Belmont winter season

Tony Patrizi bred Work Home Front and her dam-line traces all the way back to Coral Park mare Honeymoon (Beau Sovereign) who foaled G1 Oakleigh Plate winner Coal Pak (Haulpak).

Patrizi sold her yearling half-brother by Maschino through Greenfields Lodge at the Perth Magic Millions in February.  He was purchased by Ian O’Connor for $35,000.
